Operational Engineer Cycles Land’s End to John O’Groats for Charity Headway
One of our esteemed Engineers Neil Shand, 45, has set himself his biggest personal challenge yet. Biking from Land’s End to John O’Groats; covering an enormous 1,475km in just 8 days.
Neil has been with Operational UK for 15 years so we are returning some of the loyalty and hard work he has shown us over this time by becoming his official sponsor and doing our best to publicise his challenge to ensure his chosen charity Headway reaps the maximum benefit.
Neil Says: “I will be setting off on the 2nd June 2012, accompanied by friends Matt and Jamie on bikes and my Mum and Dad in the support car. The total distance will be approximately 1,475km, with individual days ranging between just 144km and a mighty 226km! While doing this, I would like to raise money for the charity Headway. When a family friend was knocked off his bike and suffered brain damage, Headway provided invaluable practical and emotional support to Mark and his family in coming to terms with his ongoing condition.”
